Food Banks Conference in Athens is completed 2 tons of food per year in Greece end up in the garbage

With the participation of representatives of the seven Food Banks (FC) of Greece and the director of the Federation of Food Banks of Europe (FEBA), the two-day national conference was concluded in Athens.
The aim of the conference, which took place on 3 & 4 November, was to exchange views, to present good practices implemented by each bank, the social impact study conducted on behalf of the Athens Food Bank and the important data that emerged from this study.
It was important to note that in Greece 2 tons of food continue to end up in the garbage every year and that after the pandemic food insecurity is on the rise. The participants came to the conclusion that the Hellenic TS have a duty, despite the difficulties they face, to support their fellow human beings and their daily food needs in every possible way. The Food Bank of Drama presented to the delegates its own work and the good practices it applies, receiving positive comments.
Also important was the presence of a representative of the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) who presented the way Food Banks operate in countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
