The Food Bank of Drama (FBD) of the Ladies' Union participated in the 5th Greek Food Banks Conference.
The conference was held at a central hotel in Thessaloniki on November 10 and 11, 2025. The first day included a closed meeting between FB representatives, while on the second day, donors, representatives of FB beneficiary organizations such as metropolitan soup kitchens, associations, unions, and company representatives participated. On the first day, the current activities of the seven FBs throughout Greece and the good practices implemented by each one were presented. The Athens FB also presented a study titled "Research on the food needs of the general population," which attempts to outline food insecurity in Greece, combining official Eurostat data for 2024 with primary data from questionnaires in soup kitchens throughout the country and beneficiaries of selected soup kitchens in Attica.
The Ladies' Union of Drama presented its own report for 2025. Specifically, it distributed 82 tons of long-life food, 23 tons of bread and bakery products, 3.5 tons of fruit and vegetables, and 12 tons of short-life food. In 2024, the seven FBs distributed a total of 2,170 tons of products to more than 130,000 people in Greece in collaboration with 340 organizations.
