Traditional & Byzantine Chorus

The Traditional Chorus of the Ladies Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality was founded in September 2013. Every year, Byzantine and Traditional music is taught on a weekly basis. The artistic direction of the chorus has been undertaken by the music teacher Mr. Lefteris Kallinikidis.

The chorus has participated in many religious and musical events in Greece and abroad such as in Istanbul, the Theological School of Halki, in Prigiponissa, Belgrade and Bulgaria. He has a very large repertoire of traditional and folk songs.

Every summer, it organizes a big music concert in the theatre of Saint Varvara “Socrates Dimitriadis” in Drama entitled “A walk in Greece”.

Arts & Crafts Courses

Every October, art and crafts courses take place, which can be attended by anyone who wishes to participate. These are courses in painting, hagiography, cutting and sewing, knitting, jewellery, artistic crafts, Byzantine and traditional chorus.

Each year, the choice of courses is made according to the needs and wishes of the interested people. The above courses are taught by volunteer teachers specialized in the subject and are mainly held in the afternoons.

The aim of the art courses is for students (adults and children) to develop the cognitive skills of their chosen subject, to be creatively entertained and to be able to understand art and therefore culture, two interrelated elements.
