The event organized by the Ladies Union of Drama – HOH for Mother’s Day, held on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the “Envy” store, was a great success and drew a large crowd.
The hall was filled with residents of Drama, both men and women, representatives of local government, and city organizations, who attended an evening dedicated to mothers, their contributions, and family values.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of an award to Ms. Elli Divanidou - Vraka as a model mother, in recognition of the dedication, support, and values she instilled in her family and especially in her son, the internationally renowned transplant surgeon, Dr. Georgios Vrakas. In an emotional atmosphere, the LUD-HOH symbolically honored, through her, all mothers who, with love, integrity, and devotion, support their children and play a decisive role in shaping their personalities and life paths.
Particular excitement was sparked by the online connection from the U.S. with Dr. Georgios Vrakas, who extended a warm greeting to the audience and spoke with deep love and gratitude for his mother, referring to the values and lessons she instilled in him and which, as he noted, accompany him at every step of his life and scientific career, even far from his homeland.
During the event, special mention was made of the remarkable personality and work of Dr. Vrakas, while the audience had the opportunity to converse with him and ask him questions about his life and professional career in America, transplants, medical science, as well as the human moments he has experienced in the operating room.
The evening concluded in a warm and moving atmosphere, filled with music, conversation, and deep emotion, reaffirming once again the importance of the mother as the foundation of society and the family.
