Successful Closing Ceremony of the “POWERFUL VOICE” Programme

Presentation of the Results of the Gender-Based Violence Risk Assessment Survey
The closing ceremony of the POWERFUL VOICE programme was successfully held on Monday, 19 October 2026, at 18:00, at the “Georgios Parasidis” Hall.
During the event, the results of the programme’s activities were presented, with particular emphasis on the survey assessing the risk of gender-based violence in the Regional Unit of Drama, and especially in the border municipalities of the area. The survey findings highlighted important aspects of citizens’ perceptions and experiences of gender-based and domestic violence, raising concerns and underscoring the need to strengthen information, prevention and support for victims.
More specifically, according to the survey results:
• Nearly 4 in 10 citizens stated that they had personally experienced some form of gender-based violence during their lifetime.
• Nearly 1 in 2 citizens knew someone from their family or social environment who had experienced some form of gender-based violence.
• 83.3% of participants believe that it is difficult for a victim of gender-based violence to speak about their experience, mainly due to fear of the consequences and the lack of a supportive network.
• 80.7% of participants expressed the need for further information and specialised training, showing a particular preference for face-to-face, experiential workshops.
The findings highlight the importance of systematic information and awareness-raising within the local community, as well as the development of initiatives that strengthen the prevention of gender-based violence and make it easier for those experiencing it to seek help.
The event was accompanied by the choir of the Ladies Union of Drama - HOH. Students from the 1st Vocational Upper Secondary School (EPAL) of Drama and the General Upper Secondary School (GEL) of Prosotsani also actively participated, presenting, respectively, a video dedicated to human rights and a short text on gender equality, both of which they had prepared as part of the initiative.
The closing ceremony provided an important opportunity to showcase the work carried out and reaffirm the need for collective action towards a society free from gender-based violence, where everyone can speak freely, be heard and find the support they need.
