Ahead of Easter, thirteen kindergartens and elementary schools in our city support the action of the Food Bank of Drama “CHILDREN OFFER LOVE”.
Specifically, during the week of April 16-19, the head of the Food Bank and the volunteers visited 13 Kindergartens and Primary Schools in our city, distributing boxes bearing the Bank’s logos with the aim of collecting packaged food, personal hygiene items and cleaning items. At the same time, they informed teachers and children about the daily distributions that are made and support 2066 family members every month.
The action is supported by Primary, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 14th, 15th and Nea Amisos as well as Kindergartens, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 16th. The list of recommended products to be collected includes long-life and personal hygiene foods, goods that many of our fellow citizens cannot obtain. This action will end on Friday, April 26 with distributions to be completed in Holy Week.
The Food Bank of Drama is the 4th nationwide Food Bank, which was founded by the Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality, in October 2019. It is a member of the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA) and has as its primary purpose the fight against hunger and food waste, covering the food needs of 2066 beneficiaries on a daily and monthly basis.
