The Ladies’ Union of Drama – H.O.H. traveled to Oslo, Norway.
The educational trip on the topic of domestic violence was implemented within the framework of the “Empowering Women of Critical Areas-EoWRA” program. Specifically, on the two days of April 11 and 12, 2024, President Aliki Tsiamoura, accompanied by the Dean of the Democritus University of Thrace, Sevasti Chatzifotiou, visited the collaborating organization “Alternative to Violence”, in order to attend training related to the way Norwegians manage domestic violence. At the same time, early in the morning they visited the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice of Norway. There they presented the results and indicators from the two programs “The Mobile School Travels” and “TIME TO TALK” funded by the European Economic Area (Norway-Iceland-Liechtenstein). The trip comes to strengthen the organization even more and is a continuation of the first educational trip that took place a few weeks ago in Athens at the Child Health Institute, in order for the organization to obtain a Child Protection Policy.
The aim of the program is to deal with domestic violence through education, to create a Child Protection regulation, as well as to promote Equality through educational workshops in 4 critical Municipalities. The educational workshops will be undertaken by the Dean Sevasti Chatzifotiou in collaboration with the team of the Ladies’ Union of Drama – H.O.H., which is also the implementing body of the program. The EoWRA program has duration of eight months and includes, in addition to the above objectives, the careful training of the organization’s team through the attendance of seminars by Social Dynamo and NGOs of the Bodosaki Foundation.
The 8-month “EoWRA” program aims to provide an integrated model of holistic management of domestic violence through training from the Institute of Child Health and the Norwegian organization Alternative to Violence. At the same time, it will help in the creation of a Child Protection Regulation, as well as in the implementation of thematic actions in the 4 regional municipalities of the Prefecture of Drama Prosotsani, Nevrokopi, Paranesti and Doxato for women aged 18-60, with the aim of promoting gender equality in Greece through experiential workshops .
“The project is supported by the Empowerment Program of Civil Society Organizations active in the field of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, which was designed and implemented by Social Dynamo, the NGO Hub of the Bodosaki Foundation”
