On Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday, the food collection action will take place in large supermarkets of our city.

From early in the morning until late in the afternoon, the group of employees and volunteers of the organization will be in the big supermarkets. The entire team will have Food Bank logos on their T-shirts, and logos will also be on the food collection basket. The “Collect” action is implemented every year during Holy Week with great success, as the response of citizens is touching. The products that can be placed in the cart are packaged and long-lasting, stationery, personal hygiene items and cleaning products. Food collected will be distributed to our fellow beneficiaries, who are experiencing food insecurity situations, which have worsened. The officers of the Ladies’ Union of Drama will be at the entrances of the supermarkets informing, at the same time, both about the action of the Food Bank of Drama, as also about the Union in general.

The Food Bank of Drama

The Food Bank of Drama is the 4th nationwide Food Bank, which was founded by the Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality (H.O.H.), in October 2019. It is a member of the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA) and has as its primary purpose the fight against hunger and of food waste, covering the food needs of 2066 beneficiaries on a daily and monthly basis.
