The Ladies’ Union of Drama-H.O.H. returned from Slovakia with a new methodology.
During the weekend of 20-22 May the Ladies’ Union of Drama-H.O.H.. with the project partner Alysos Alert travelled to Bratislava, in order to be trained in the social programme of the Cesta Von organisation concerning Roma children from 0-6 years old, called “OMAMA”. The trip was implemented in the framework of the project “TIME TO LEARN” and aimed at the exchange of know-how and good practices. Within the framework of the trip, a visit was also made to the Ministry of Development where the possibility of synergies, cooperation and networking was discussed. Otherwise, twice a week interventions continue in the Roma camps of Filippou & Ampelokipoi which aim to train 30 Roma women in human rights. The project staff visit the camps twice a week and talk to the women about issues that concern them such as early marriage, pregnancy, equality, education, housing, health etc. Training materials will soon be produced through which the trainings will be conducted.
The project “TIME TO LEARN” started in March 2024 and has a duration of 12 months. It concerns the protection and promotion of the rights and values of the European Union / BUILD. It aims to train 30 Roma women living in the areas of Filippou and Ampelokipi of Drama, in human rights, the fight against anti-gayism, the empowerment of the implementing body, the exchange of know-how and good practices with institutions in Greece and abroad. The implementing body Union of Ladies of Drama- H.O.H. carries out weekly interventions in the two camps in order to inform the women, will prepare a report on possible human rights violations which will be delivered to the Citizen’s Advocate in Athens and to the corresponding body in Norway. The partner “Alysos Alert” will transfer to the implementing body its experience and know-how in the prevention and combating of domestic violence against Roma women.
The project “TIME TO LEARN” is implemented in the framework of the BUILD project, with the “Ladies’ Union of Drama – Open Hospitality House” and “Alysos Alert” as a partner. The project “Building a robust and democratic civic space” (BUILD) aims to protect, promote and widely recognise the fundamental rights and values of the EU, by supporting civil society organisations (CSOs) in Greece and Cyprus and strengthening their capacities and sustainability. BUILD is co-funded by the European Union, through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, the Bodossaki Foundation and the NGO Support Centre of Cyprus with a total grant amount of €2.9 million.BUILD is coordinated by the Bodossaki Foundation (Greece) in partnership with the NGO Support Centre of Cyprus.
