The opening of the photography exhibition "Capturing Reality" by the Ladies Union of Drama-H.O.H. took place in a packed hall in Doxato.
On Wednesday, December 10, the KAPI hall was filled with local residents who came to learn about and support the participants' efforts. The Mayor of Doxato, Georgios Vogiatzis, welcomed the initiative of the Ladies' Union, emphasizing that "these activities are unique, as evidenced by the keen interest of the participants." He stressed that the participants had acquired unique skills that would serve them throughout their lives, and congratulated President Aliki Tsiamoura on the multifaceted work of the organization. Taking the floor, Ms. Tsiamoura explained why this particular municipality was chosen for the implementation of the action, as there is an excellent and multi-level cooperation. He congratulated the participants in the program on their outstanding results. Under the guidance of photographer Myrsini Tzimou and the artistic supervision of art historian Vicky Konstantinidou, captured snapshots of everyday life and elements of the cultural identity of their place, creating a meaningful and vibrant artistic result. Finally, she pointed out that such activities enhance the social life, psychology, and active participation of the region's residents. The event was honored by the presence of Deputy Mayor for Social Policy Margarita Maliou-Michailidou, Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture Charalambos Galanidis, President of the Cultural and Educational Association Maria Zafeiropoulou, and renowned photojournalist Dimitris Messinis.
The initiative is being implemented under the auspices and with the funding of the Ministry of Culture, as part of initiatives that strengthen social cohesion, expression, and creativity among residents of remote areas. The exhibition will remain open to the public until December 17, 2025, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
After Doxato, Adriani will take over, with the inauguration taking place on Saturday, December 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community's multipurpose hall.
