The Ladies' Union of Drama - HOH held two educational workshops as part of the “POWERFUL VOICE” program in Prosotsani.
The workshops took place on Monday, April 27, at the Prosotsani Junior High School, with the participation of 63 students and teachers, and at the Kokkinogia Women’s Cooperative, with the participation of 3 employees. In the first workshop, the project’s scientific director, Sevasti Hatzifotiou, Dean at Democritus University of Thrace, presented the Charter of Children’s Rights to the students, while emphasizing the importance of defending rights as well as understanding the responsibilities that accompany them.
The project team then visited the Kokkinogeion Cooperative Workshop, where a constructive discussion took place with the cooperative’s employees regarding the importance of gender equality and the empowerment of initiatives. The women spoke about the challenges they faced, how they function as a team, and their future plans, as well as the balance between their professional and personal lives.
The 14-month “POWERFUL VOICE” program, funded by Action Aid and the European Union, aims to inform, educate, and raise awareness among men and women (aged 13-60) living in remote areas of the municipalities of the Prefecture of Drama (Prosotsani, Paranesti, Neurkopi, Doxato) on issues related to the values of the European Union, gender equality, and the recognition of forms of gender-based violence.
The ” POWERFUL VOICE ” project is implemented within the framework of the “POWER – Promoting Organizations’ empoWErment to guarantee women’s human rights and stop gender-based violence” program, which is coordinated by WeWorld (WW), in collaboration with Action Aid 12 Hellas (AAH) and the Asociación Bienestar y Desarrollo (ABD). POWER is co-funded by the European Union through the “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values” program (CERV – 2023 – DAPHNE).
