The Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality actively participates in the 10th Festival against School Violence, supporting prevention and awareness-raising actions both as a sponsor and through the presentation of good practices to tackle the phenomenon.
In the framework of the Festival, an online speech was held on March 4, 2025, by the Professor of Social Work and Dean of the Faculty of Social, Political and Economic Sciences, Ms. Chatzifotiou Sevasti, scientific collaborator of the Union of Ladies of Drama, on the topic: “TIME TO TALK – Programme for the prevention and awareness raising of students”. The presentation focused on the findings of the university research conducted within the framework of the Programme by the University of West Attica, the University of Proponissos and the Democritus University of Thrace. The research focused on emerging forms of online violence and highlighted the increased levels of poor psychological well-being of victims, as well as the need for more effective mechanisms for protection and reporting of violent phenomena.
During the presentation, special emphasis was also placed on the approach of the “TIME TO TALK” programme, which is an integrated intervention for the prevention of school, domestic and gender-based violence. The way in which prevention and information interventions are carried out in school units, through the implementation of educational workshops, was presented. The aim of the educational workshops, which continue on a voluntary basis, is to inform and raise awareness among the student and teacher population about forms of violence and how to recognise them. The experiential workshops are implemented by University Professor Sevasti Hatzifotiou. In the last three years, the educational workshops have managed to inform 1,602 secondary school students and 35 teachers. Pilot actions were also carried out in Primary Education classes, reaching 80 children and 5 teachers. On the website timetotalk.gr one can find the university research on emerging forms of violence on the internet, information on forms of violence and play the game “Change the plot. Be a Gender Hero!”.
