On Friday 22 October at 11 am at the Athens Academy Hall in a modest ceremony, the president of the Ladies Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality, Aliki Tsiamoura, will receive the Aikaterini P. Economou Award.
The ceremony will be held in the presence of only the Presidium of the Academy of Athens. The solemn speech will be delivered by the Academician Mr. Paschalis Kitromilidis and then the Secretary General will present the awards. The event will be filmed for webcast on Tuesday 26 October at 6.00 pm via a link that will be announced soon by the Academy of Athens.
In a simple announcement, the Academy says: “Aikaterini P. Economou Prize”, according to the terms of the will of George P. Economou, with a cash prize of 3.000 euros, awarded to a woman or women’s organization – association for an excellent act or action of social welfare and charity to the association “Ladies Union of Drama – H.O.H”, for many years of social, humanitarian and cultural work, especially to vulnerable groups in the region, by attaching to the work of the fully equipped guest house in which guests are provided with food, clothing, care and legal, professional and psychological support.’’
The Academy of Athens was founded in 1926 and joined two major international organizations: the “International Union of Academies” and the “International Council of Scientific Associations”. Since then, it has been supporting scientific research, funding publications, granting scholarships and awarding prizes.
