Next Stop: Ortakiou Square on 9 September
The successful “The Neighbourhoods Sing” initiative continues its series of Musical Wednesdays, with the next event taking place on 9 September at Ortakiou Square, featuring the musical group “Biz Bize.”
Last Wednesday, Justinian Park was filled with music, smiles and wonderful moments of togetherness, as the first concert of the initiative was held with great success. The response from local residents was particularly warm, with people of all ages coming together in their neighborhood park to enjoy an evening of live music.
The initiative provides a meaningful opportunity to bring neighbourhoods to life, giving residents the chance to meet close to home, get to know one another better and socialise. It is particularly important for people who experience loneliness or face difficulties travelling to the city Centre. By bringing music directly into their neighbourhoods, the initiative creates an easily accessible and welcoming space for people to come together, offering them the opportunity to participate, communicate and enjoy a pleasant evening without having to leave their familiar surroundings.
“The Neighbourhoods Sing” is jointly organised by the Regional Unit of Drama and the Ladies Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality (LUD-HOH) and forms part of the “Information and Awareness-Raising Plan on Social Welfare Issues.” Through the power of music, the initiative aims to reduce feelings of loneliness in everyday life, encourage participation and social interaction, and create opportunities for communication, connection and recreation within local neighbourhoods.
