Nineteen kindergartens and primary schools in our city are participating in the Drama Food Bank (FB) initiative of the Ladies’ Union, titled “CHILDREN OFFER LOVE.”
Specifically, on Monday, December 1st, the Drama FB team began the ROUTE OF LOVE, distributing special boxes with the corresponding logo to the schools. The boxes were placed at the school entrances. The aim of the initiative is twofold: on the one hand, to raise students’ awareness regarding the goals of the Food Banks, and on the other, to collect food due to the increased needs during the holiday season.
The initiative will conclude on Monday, December 15th, when the COLLECTION ROUTE will begin. The participating schools include the 1st, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 16th primary schools, as well as those of Nea Amissos and Xiropotamos. Participating kindergartens include the 4th, 7th, 22nd, and the Nea Amissos kindergarten. Schools from Secondary Education are also taking part, such as the Prosotsani Gymnasium – Ambassador of the Drama FB, the 1st Vocational High School (EPAL), and the Evening High School.
The items children can place in the designated boxes include non-perishable foods and personal hygiene products—goods that many of our fellow citizens are unable to obtain.
The Drama Food Bank
The Drama Food Bank is the fourth Food Bank established in Greece. It was founded by the Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality in October 2019. It is a member of the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA) and its primary mission is to combat hunger and food waste, covering the nutritional needs of hundreds of beneficiaries on a daily and monthly basis.
