On Friday, January 24, 2025, 44 students of Class A of the 4th General High School of Drama, accompanied by three teachers, visited Ladies Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality , in order to participate in the educational workshops of the program.
The aim of the educational workshops, which continue on a voluntary basis, is to inform and raise awareness among the student population on the prevention and treatment of gender-based violence. The scientific coordinator of the workshops is the Dean of the Democritus University of Thrace, Ms. Sevasti Chatzifotiou, who specializes in gender and domestic violence issues.
During the activity, the students asked questions about the forms of violence, and were drawn into actual incidents of abuse, discussing ways in which they could have been prevented. They then played the online game “Change the plot. Be a Gender Hero!”, which aims to detect abusive behaviours, and the educational workshops concluded with a visit to the organisation’s shelter for abused women.
The program “TIME TO TALK!” was carried out within the framework of the Active Citizens Fund, with the L.U.D. – H.O.H. as implementing agency and the Bodossaki Foundation and Solidarity Now as grant managers. The project was funded by Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein, as part of the European Economic Area (EEA) funding mechanism. It lasted 14 months from December 2021 to February 2023 and continues on a voluntary level until today, succeeding in promoting equality, preventing and addressing the phenomenon of gender-based violence and its root causes, through specialized counseling of the perpetrator and more effective support for victims.
