The first educational workshop of the program “POWERFUL VOICE” was held in the community of Kyrgia, Drama.

The Ladies' Union of Drama - Η.Ο.Η. successfully held the first educational workshop of the new program " POWERFUL VOICE."
The workshop took place in the community of Kyrgia in the Municipality of Doxato on Monday, October 13. Adult members of the "House of Love" volunteer organization, the general public, and employees of the Municipality's Social Services Department took part.
The topics covered in the educational workshop concerned human rights based on the Charter of Human Rights established by the UN and the 17 sustainable development goals with a focus on gender equality. The participants showed keen interest, engaging in lively discussions on the topics presented and asking many questions about the program's content. The scientific director of the project, Professor of Social Work and Dean of the School of Social, Political, and Economic Sciences at Democritus University of Thrace, Ms.Sevasti Xatzifotiou answered all the questions, which offered a new perspective on how the general population perceives gender-based violence and how they themselves are affected by such phenomena.

The 14-month " POWERFUL VOICE" program, implemented by the Ladies' Union of Drama-H.O.H., is funded by ActionAid and the European Union. Its aim is to inform, educate, and raise awareness among men and women (aged 13-60) living in remote areas, of the municipalities, of the Prefecture of Drama (Prosotsani, Paranesti, Neurkopi, Doxato) on issues relating to the values of the European Union, gender equality, and the recognition of forms of gender-based violence.
