The Food Bank of Drama joined the innovative Givelink platform, which is changing the world of philanthropy.
Through the platform, one can see the actual needs of the organization and make a donation quickly and instantly depending on the amount they wish to donate. Givelink connects the donor's giving to the need of each organization, while enabling them to know the impact of their donation. By logging into the platform, the user can see all the organisations with in-kind needs, having the option to direct their donation as they wish. The Food Bank of Drama has posted the basic needs which will relieve our vulnerable fellow human beings. Each time someone makes a donation the organization sends a thank you message with photos of the receipt and distribution of the products. The Food Bank of Drama
The Food Bank of Drama is the fourth Food Bank established in Greece. It was founded by the Ladies Union of Drama –House of Open Hospitality in October 2019. It is a member of the European Food Banks Federation (FEBA) and its primary mission is to fight hunger and food waste. It meets the nutritional needs of 2,016 beneficiaries on a daily and monthly basis.
SOME ACTIONS OF THE FOOD BANK OF DRAMA
CHILDREN PROVIDE LOVE
The Food Bank of Drama implements the action “CHILDREN PROVIDE LOVE” where Kindergarten and Primary School students participate through donations of products including long-life food and personal hygiene items, which many of our fellow citizens cannot afford to buy.
“THE STUDENTS GET OT KNOW THE FOOD BANK OF DRAMA”
In this activity, children watch a short presentation and play an interactive quiz, visit the premises of the Food Bank of Drama and make packages of long-life food and personal hygiene products. Through the distribution of these parcels, they are made aware of food waste and the needs of our fellow human beings and all the children unanimously acknowledge the importance of the work of the Food Bank of Drama.
THE CHILDREN - AMBASSADORS OF THE FOOD BANK OF DRAMA
This year, for the first time, a school in our city cooperates with the Food Bank of Drama in actions related to its work. The school unit will also be in contact with various local institutions and civil society organizations in order to promote and support the missions of the Food Bank of Drama in terms of food collection and public awareness for vulnerable social groups.
