With the screening of 5 short films by Greek female directors, the Drama Short Film Festival and the Ladies Union honor International Women's Day.
Five films that deal with loneliness, exploitation, the struggle for social inclusion, motherhood, depression, harsh adulthood, and the "fake" happy society. Gefi Dimitrakopoulou, Despoina Koutri, Alexandra Matthaiou, Thelgia Petrakis, and Vangelio Soumeli are the creators of the films, which have competed and won awards at the Drama Festival. The screening will be followed by an open discussion with the audience.
International Women's Day is a symbolic day in the struggle of women for their rights, justice, peace, gender equality, and gender-based violence, issues that remain throughout the world, to a greater or lesser extent, even in the 21st century. It is a day of mobilization to support equality and assess the position of women in society. It was established by the United Nations in memory of the women who lost their lives in the New York garment workers' strike in 1908.
