The Ladies’ Union of Drama – HOH held the second educational workshop of the new ” POWERFUL VOICE” program at a school unit.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, the Ladies' Union of Drama - HOH held the second educational workshop of the " POWERFUL VOICE" program at a school in the Municipality of Doxato. The workshop took place at the General High School of Doxato and was aimed at first-year high school students and teachers. The topics covered in the educational workshop focused on human rights based on the Charter of Children's Rights, established by the UN, and the 17 sustainable development goals, with an emphasis on gender equality and education. The students were deeply interested in the topics discussed, contributed to the presentation, and asked questions that offered a more demanding approach.

For example, when the Right to Protect Children from Any Form of Abuse was discussed, one student asked if we could respond to violence with violence. Comments were also made by the teachers who participated in the workshop, offering an adult perspective on ensuring the protection of children's rights. The professor of the Department of Social Work and Dean of the School of Social, Political, and Economic Sciences at Democritus University of Thrace, Ms. Sevasti Xatzifotiou answered all the questions and encouraged the students and teachers to express their views, creating an interactive "debate" on the defense of children's rights and how this can be ensured.

The 14-month ” POWERFUL VOICE” program, implemented by the Ladies’ Union of Drama-H.O.H., is funded by ActionAid and the European Union. Its aim is to inform, educate, and raise awareness among men and women (aged 13-60) living in remote areas, of the municipalities, of the Prefecture of Drama (Prosotsani, Paranesti, Neurkopi, Doxato) on issues relating to the values of the European Union, gender equality, and the recognition of forms of gender-based violence.
