A new graffiti, which was designed in the framework of the project “TIME TO LEARN”, adorns the entrance of the Ladies’ Union House of Open Hospitality at 114 Venizelos Street.
The project with the central slogan: “It’s your right, it’s TIME TO LEARN” has a double aim. On the one hand to raise awareness among the general population about Roma rights, and on the other hand to inform Roma beneficiaries that they have the right to be informed about their rights and European values. Already the graffiti is an object of admiration for dozens of Dramians who, passing through the main street, are curious about it and ask for more information. The Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality with partner Alysos Alert, is carrying out the new 12-month project “TIME TO LEARN” from March 2024. The aim of the project is the training of 30 Roma women living in the settlements of Ampelokipoi and Filippou in Drama, in human rights, the treatment of anti-gypsyism, the empowerment of the implementing agency, the exchange of know-how and good practices with a Slovakian agency, but also the delivery of a report on human rights violations to the Public Defender and the National Commission for Human Rights.
The project “TIME TO LEARN” is implemented in the framework of the BUILD project, with the “Ladies’ Union of Drama – Open Hospitality House” and the partner organization “Alysos Alert”. The project “Building a robust and democratic civic space” (BUILD) aims to protect, promote and widely recognise the fundamental rights and values of the EU, through supporting Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Greece and Cyprus and strengthening their capacities and sustainability. BUILD is funded by the European Union, through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, the Bodossaki Foundation and the NGO Support Centre Cyprus with a total grant amount of €2.9 million. BUILD is coordinated by the Bodossaki Foundation (Greece) in partnership with the NGO Support Centre (Cyprus).
