Two new food aid programs are being implemented by the Ladies’ Union of Drama – H.O.H with a total of forty-seven beneficiaries.
The programs aim to meet the basic food needs of forty-seven multi-child families, single-parent families, and lonely elderly people by providing them with monthly allowances, which they cash in at large supermarkets of our city.
The distribution took place on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the agency’s offices. Also, the forty-seven beneficiaries had the opportunity to listen to the speech of Dr. Elli Papageorgiou, curator A’ at Local Health Units (LHU) of Drama. Mrs. Papageorgiou referred to the access, staffing, services, and operation of the Local Health Units, making it clear that every citizen can have their personal doctor completely free of charge. At the end of the talk, many of the participants asked the doctor their own questions.
The one program that concerns lonely elderly people over sixty years of age is financed by the Antonios and Ioannis Angelikousis Foundation, while the second program that concerns single-parent and multi-child families is financed by an anonymous foreign donor.
The objectives of the programs are to inform the beneficiaries on matters of healthy nutrition, safety and health, but also to strengthen them psychologically, to socialize them and to improve their quality of life by purchasing basic goods.
