The departure will be from the offices of the organization Venizelou 114 at 4 pm. Participants will have the opportunity to worship in the monastery and to venerate the unique symbol of Panagia Ekosifoinissa in the impressive gold-plated wooden iconostasis of the monastery’s church. The Holy Monastery of Panagia Eikosifoinissa is a historical monastery of great importance, as it is the oldest active monastery in Greece and Europe. It is located at an altitude of about 750 meters, in an area overgrown with trees, and is a female monastery that accommodates about 25 nuns. A characteristic of the monastery’s historicity is the Holy Step, which dates back to the 11th century, while another characteristic of the monastery is the two cypress trees that have been miraculously growing on the roof of the church for many years.
Upon completion of the Greetings and return to Drama, the participants will visit the Holy Church of St. Nicholas, in order to venerate the Larnaca of Saint George Karslidis the Young.
