The production of the commercial “TIME TO LEARN” was completed

A strong message for the rights of Roma people

The spot (in Greek and English) aims to raise awareness about Roma human rights, racism and anti-Gypsyism. It tells the story of a Roma mother who takes her child to primary school, the negative attitude she faces from non-Roma mothers, her anxiety about her child’s success and whether she will be hurt by the negative criticism. The ending vindicates her with an unexpectedly pleasant outcome. The Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality with partner Alysos Alert, is carrying out the new 12-month project “TIME TO LEARN” from March 2024. The aim of the project is the training of 30 Roma women living in the settlements of Ampelokipoi and Filippou in Drama, in human rights, the treatment of anti-gypsyism, the empowerment of the implementing agency, the exchange of know-how and good practices with a Slovakian agency, but also the delivery of a report on human rights violations to the Ombudsman and the National Commission for Human Rights.
